United States star Sergiño Dest back in Barcelona for his own 'preseason'

The starting gun has sounded on Sergiño Dest's second season with Barcelona. After a year of adaption in which he showed his potential but lacked consistency, the American full-back is now focused on preseason, which starts in a week. Dest has been back in the city for several days after ending his holiday early and is clear he wants to start the new campaign in top form, with the arrival of Emerson increasing competition for places.

The ex-Ajax man has enjoyed some time off. After games with the United States in June, he was able to disconnect. Both mentally and physically after a draining season and some injuries at the turn of the year.

Ronald Koeman staying on is a positive for him and he's one of the few players Barça aren't open to offers for. Therefore, as rumours swirl about player exits, Dest and his people are relaxed. Koeman has confidence in the player and will demand more from him this season. Both the coach and the player believe there's huge room to improve.

Dest spent a few days in Miami with his family before travelling to the Netherlands, where he caught up with important people in his camp. Due to the Covid-19 calendar in European football, he's not had much time with them this season. His last stop was Ibiza, as seen on Instagram.

With his trip over, Dest is back in Barcelona, where he's been preparing for preseason. He is aware he needs a big season and has been working hard at home. His journey at Barça has only just begun and in his head is only one thought: to keep working hard and learning.
