Unai Emery is becoming unsure about signing Andre Gomes for Arsenal. The Basque coach says that his team’s squad is sealed, unless a great opportunity appears on the market. And that is where the Portuguese midfielder’s name comes in, a player that Barcelona want to sell.
The new Arsenal coach was clear when asked about Gomes. “For the moment our squad is complete,” said Emery. “We would only sign if there was a great opportunity.”
Arsenal have not ruled out the player arriving, but they will not pay the 25-30 million that Barcelona were asking for. Instead they will only buy him if there is a significant discount. If that is the case, Emery will give the nod.
Arsenal aren’t the only team who want Gomes, with Valencia also alert to his situations. They want him back at Mestalla, but on loan, not as a purchase. That is an obstacle because Barcelona don’t want to listen to any bids that are not pure transfers.
