Umtiti: The Barça starter with the lowest buyout clause

Sergi Roberto and Pique's clauses have recently increased

Barcelona have slowly been increasing the release clauses in their players' contracts, especially those that are regulars in Ernesto Valverde's team.

However, Samuel Umtiti has become their weak spot. Sergi Roberto and Gerard Pique's recent renewals saw their clauses boosted to 500 million euros in an attempt to avoid another Neymar scenario.

But Umtiti has not yet signed a new contract and his release clause remains at 60 million.

Real Madrid had already started this policy, negotiating huge buyout clauses into their players' deals. Bale, Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo all have clauses of 1000 million euros, Isco's is 700 million, Modric, Kroos and even Ceballos' 500 million.

Messi's is the highest at Barça: 700 million. Recent signings Coutinho (2023) and Dembele (2022) signed deals with clauses at 400 million.

Then there's Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez (200 million), Ter Stegen (180 million), Jordi Alba (150 million) and Ivan Rakitic (125 million).

Iniesta's case is different. The club captain reached an agreement with the club last year which allows him to decide before the end of April whether or not he leaves the club.

So, Umtiti is the only worry at the moment. Because of his age and his potential, it's clear that Premier League clubs would pay the money for him. Manchester United are best positioned and could follow Manchester City (Laporte, 65 million) and Liverpool (Van Dijk, 79 million) in spending big on a centre-back.
