Bayern's president also had some strong words for the German FA as well as the head coach Joachim Low

The debate over who should start for Germany has been a hot topic of debate following Marc-Andre ter Stegen's impressive performance against Borussia Dortmund earlier in the week. It seems everyone has an opinion on the topic as Manuel Neuer remains Joachim Low's trusted man between the sticks, regardless of what ter Stegen does for Barça.

"I believe it's a joke," said Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness on the matter. "Ter Stegen doesn't have a right to play there. It's different in goal compared to the outfield positions. Manuel Neuer is number one and has been the best keeper in the world for many years now. No one could argue he shouldn't be number one."

Hoeness wasn't done there though. He also feels Low and the German FA should do more to control these types of situations amongst ambitious players. "We don't want our players to be impacted in the future. Ter Stegen is a very good goalkeeper but Neuer is a lot better and has more experience. He can play whilst he's fit and he'll always be the best."

His coach at Bayern, Niko Kovac, also insisted that Neuer was "the number one keeper" for Germany.
