The Portuguese winger fell out of favour and never secured a place in the team

Unhurried but unstopping. Operation exit at Barca continued on Sunday with Francisco Trincao on the way out. Barca announced that the Portuguese forward is going on loan to Wolves. They have an option to buy, non-obligatory, for 29 million euros. The feeling is that Trincao will likely not return to play for Barcelona again.

Like Nelson Semedo, he has headed from Camp Nou to Wolves, via his agent Jorge Mendes, who dominates the Midlands club. Barca paid Braga 31m euros for him.

Trincao goes to the Premier League after a disappointing first year in one of the big leagues of Europe. He played 42 games but only a total of 1309 minutes, around 14 complete matches. He got three goals and two assists. The most important came against Betis with the score at 2-2, he netted a fine winner. Six days later he hit a double against Alaves.

The Portuguese was hurt by the shift to 3-5-2 which sees no attacking wide players used. Messi and one accompanying forward, usually Griezmann.

SPORT explained at the start of the summer, unlike other players, Trincao was open to a move to try and get more minutes elsewhere.
