Francisco Trincao and Alex Collado. Both born in 1999. 21 years old. Both left-footed. Both wide men. Similar physically. There are only two differences between them. Trincao is in the first team and Collado at Barca B. Trincao cost 31 million and Collado, nothing. They are living through different situations. Collado has become a Barca B leader and Trincao has not taken any of the chances given to him by Koeman.
Against Real Sociedad Trincao was turned to on the bench again by the coach. He did not generate any danger. His Braga displays are long forgotten. He’s only 21 but for now he has shown Barca fans that he has a lot of enthusiasm, but not much end product. Sure, he has time on his side, but still no goals and he’s had some clear chances.
Trincao arrived through Jorge Mendes, albeit discreetly. Barca paid a high price for a player who has barely done anything in the world of professional football. His arrival blocked Collado and Konrad de la Fuente.
Ernesto Valverde gave Collado his debut. Right now he’s the star of Barca B, the team are second and he’s scoring and creating.
Collado has always dreamed of the first-team, rejecting all proposals to leave last summer to try and convince Koeman. It’s a question of time for him to overtake Trincao.
