The English club had already presented an offer to PSG, which was rejected, and are beginning to look at other targets

Tottenham Hotspur have decided to drop out of the race to sign Adrien Rabiot and instead look at another midfield options. The English side believe the footballer's intentions are clear and that if he doesn't sign a new deal with PSG, he'll sign for Barcelona either this summer or the next one on a free transfer. Tottenham were willing to offer €30m for the player, who only has a year left on his deal, but the project at the Spurs didn't satisfy Rabiot.

Rabiot's future remains up in the air, although Barcelona now know it's going to be a difficult transfer to get over the line. PSG don't want to sell the player and are doing everything in their power to get him to sign a new contract with them. There will be a meeting between Rabiot and PSG next week in order to discuss his future. If they offer him a bumper contract, Rabiot might stay. If they don't, Barcelona suddenly move to the front of the queue.

In fact, only a few days ago, Pep Segura and Eric Abidal travelled to Paris to inform PSG of their interest in Rabiot. It was respectful move in order to improve relations between the two clubs following Neymar's controversial switch last season. PSG didn't want to put a price on Rabiot's head, although if they don't reach an agreement over a new deal they might be forced to sell him in order to get some return on their investment. Barcelona are willing to pay up to €35m for the midfielder.
