The defender was self critical ahead of his new stage at Nice

Jean-Clair Todibo, Nice’s new signing in the winter window, spoke to L’Equipe. He is on loan with an option to buy and will to everything possible for that option to be elected. He still regards his time at Barca as a great experience.

“(I don’t regret coming), not at all,” said Todibol. “Barcelona is still a very big experience. I learned a lot from Gerard Pique, Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet, it was good for me. I discovered a very, very high level.

“I didn’t manage (to force my way in) because there were very great players ahead of me. I also had a coach, Ernesto Valverde, who was under pressure, with fans who put on a lot of pressure, so it’s normal they play Gerard Pique ahead of a kid of 19 years of age without experience.”

He said he did not do well on loan at Schalke. “I lacked respect for the people that trusted in me at the club,” said Todibo, self-critically.

“I relaxed, I liked respect for the people that had confidence in me. I beg their apologies.”

“There I learned the most from a human point of view. They gave me all I needed and I had playing time. My three experiences, Barcelona, Schalke, and Benfica have turned me into a new man.”
