The experienced defender admits he would prefer Neymar to stay but he just wants his fellow countryman to be happy
Thiago Silva is a teammate of Neymar at both club level, with PSG, and internationally, with Brazil. The defender is currently involved in the Copa America where Brazil await Argentina in the semi-finals. Yet whilst talk in South America is about the upcoming contest, the shadow of Neymar and his potential exit from PSG continues to be the hot topic of debate elsewhere.
"Now isn't the time to talk about those things, we're in the middle of a tournament," insisted Thiago. "Of course I'd like Ney to stay but I also want him to be happy." Perhaps this is a hint that, similar to fellow Brazilian Dani Alves, Neymar could be heading out the exit door at PSG this summer. "Dani made an official statement. He's out. We lose a great champion and teammate. Unfortunately, he missed the last World Cup through injury but he's always a positive player. I want him to be happy too."
