The centre-back now believes Barça could be the best option for him

Dutch centre-back Matthijs De Ligt moves closer to Barcelona with each passing day as obtacles to his signing are jumped.

Bartomeu made it clear on Cadena SER on Wednesday that the club want him, saying that his name is on the table for next season.

There are two arguments which have worked against the signing during months of talks in Barça's offices. The first one is how Barça can afford the necessary deals to remodel their squad. The second, the most important one, was the player's own desire. He wasn't sure if Barça was the right move.

FINANCES

Sources consulted by SPORT assure that the club believe there is enough money to sign De Ligt.

MINUTES AND GROWTH

The big change comes from the player. The 19-year-old no longer fears fighting for minutes to keep growing and the club have made him understand that he will be a guarantee in the side for the coming years.

Initially, with players like Umtiti and Lenglet, he wasn't sure Barça was the right option. Now it's different. The club's insistence has made him re-think his future.

DE JONG

Finally, his friendship with De Jong has to be mentioned. Both are aware that having each other for company would speed up their adaption process in Catalonia.

Therefore, everything is alligning in Barça's favour and clearing the doubts. They want De Ligt and will do everything possible to close the deal.
