The image which appeared was not taken in Turin this week
Alarm bells were ringing on Wednesday when an image circulated featurring Neymar with Crristiano Ronaldo in Turin. Amid the uncertainty over the Brazilian's future, the rumour mill went into overdrive when the photograph appeared, published by Ricardo Regufe, one of Ronaldo's best friends.
However, the truth is slightly different. The image was taken at the end of April, a few days before the French Cup final after a recording for telecoms company Altice which featured the two players playing ping pong in a Kill Bill style setting.
Neymar has not been in Turin this week. He is still in Brazil and his Instagram has revealed he has been playing foot-volley with his son. That's why he didn't turn up to PSG training this week: because he still has commercial events to fulfil in his homeland. He is not, then, in Europe at the moment.
PSG said they will punish Neymar for failing to report for preseason training on Monday, while his father insists he had been given permission to delay his return until July 15. Sporting director Leonardo is said to have cancelled that arrangement, which was struck with his predecessor, Antero Henrique.
