Erik ten Hag would like the midfielder back and there is a possibility of a two for one switch

Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Manchester United next season has awoken interest in Frenkie de Jong at the English club. The Dutch midfielder is being criticised at Barça for his poor performances, and the sports department could receive a significant offer from England which makes them rethink his future. Publicly, at least, they say they don’t want to sell the ex-Ajax man.

Per BBC Sport, United will try a trade deal to make the operation cheaper. They say Marcus Rashford and Alex Telles are two players who they could swap with neither thriving at Old Trafford.

It’s possible that this would allow Barcelona to reinforce two of the positions they want to in the summer, but on the other hand it is unlikely to be enough to persuade them to sell a player the bought for 86 million euros in the summer of 2019.
