The surprise meeting between Gerard Pique, Ceferin and Joan Laporta

The trio had lunch in Barcelona recently according to a Catalan radio station

Gerard Pique had a meeting with the UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin a few weeks ago, according to a report on RAC1 this week.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta joined the duo, too, just days before 12 clubs tried to leave UEFA's Champions League competition by launching the European Super League.

According to the cited media, Pique was interested in learning how the television money for the Champions League and other UEFA competitions was distributed. Ceferin explained to him in person.

And at the end of the lunch in Barcelona, Laporta appeared, too. Remember that Ceferein included Laporta in his rant when he said that the president of the Super League founders were "flat-Earthers."

Remember, also, that in recent hours it's come out that Laporta also met with La Liga chief Javier Tebas to advise him that the club would be joining a European Super League before its official launch.

Even before that, Laporta was in contact with Ceferin to explain the delicate financial situation at Barça. For now, the Barça president has not said too much on the Super League, other than it's a necessity, while Barça remit to the statement they released last Thursday.
