Mata is out of contract in the summer and can leave for free

Juan Mata's agent has met with FC Barcelona to discuss a January move when his contract expires at Manchester United, according to The Sun.

The player's terms at Old Trafford expire in the summer and he's free to leave if he doesn't pen a new deal. Mata is represented by his own company, JM10 SPORT.

But United, amid interest in Mata from Juventus, PSG, Arsenal and FC Barcelona, have reportedly offered the Spain international an additional one-year deal.

Mata's in his eighth season in the Premier League and his sixth with Manchester United, after playing for Chelsea (2011-2014) and Valencia Valencia (2007-2011).

At United, the Ovideo-born midfielder has played 208 games so far, scoring 44 goals and setting up 35 more.
