The London club could rival Manchester City for the signing of the Argentine

No one knows what Lionel Messi's next move will be. The FC Barcelona forward is out of contract in June and his future is up in the air, with all scenarios still open. The Sun report that Chelsea have sounded out the possibility of taking him to London next summer when his deal expires.

Last summer, Messi said he wanted to leave Barça. He confirmed that and, while he never revealed where he wanted to go, Manchester City was his possible destination. Pep Guardiola's side wanted to sign the best player in the world to boost their Champions League and Premier League hopes.

Chelsea, in search of returning to the top of English football, are creating a talented group of young players at a great cost. They have spent 230 million euros to bring in Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Edouard Mendy. Signing Messi would be the cherry on the cake for Frank Lampard's side.
