The reasons Gavi and Barcelona have not reached a deal yet
The young midfielder is one of world football's finest prospects for his tender age
Barcelona are still working on Gavi’s contract renewal. The Blagurana and the player’s agents are in constant contact and there could be a new meeting this week.
The main reason for discrepancies between the club and player is that Barcelona consider him still to be a work in progress, growing and improving, while Gavi and his camp believe he’s already there, and should be paid as such. Thats’ the reason their estimations of how much Gavi should earn don’t match up.
Barcelona have offered him a contract in line with the most recent renewals like Ronald Araujo, but for now the player’s camp has not given the nod.
Gavi has a firm proposal in his hands and his team are studying it. However his camp are conscious of the wages that will be paid to players like Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen who are arriving.
Gavi’s quality has been on show for Spain in the Nations League where he has started both games and been the team’s best player.
