The French striker likes the idea of staying at Atletico but they are trying not to pay 40m
Antonine Griezmann played 90 minutes against Real Madrid, but his contractual situation and future is unresolved. Atletico are trying to do all they can to not pay Barcelona the 40m euros they are old for him. They are tying to see if Barcelona agree to sell him for 20m in June.
The Athletic say this summer various teams asked about the forward from the Premier League. Man United were especially interested. His potential arrival was linked to Cristiano Ronaldo leaving, but the Portuguese and his big salary stayed put. He may try to leave in January though.
Griezmann is happy at Atletico and he wants to stay, with Simeone keen on him.
