The players Barcelona want to sell, case by case

Here are the list of names in the squad that are not needed and the current plans

There’s an alarm at Barca going off when it comes to the squad size. They have brought in several players, Aguero, Garcia, Emerson and Memphis. Now it’s time to get some names out. Here we look at the situation of the players heading for the exit.

Konrad de la Fuente: Close to a Marseille switch, loan with an option to buy. They’ve been following the American for some time. They will match his salary but don’t want an obligatory buy clause. Barca hope to get at least five million.

Jean Clair Todibo: Closest to leaving. He’s not interested in coming back and Nice are happy with him. Seems set to join them for 8.5m euros in July. Barca signed him for just 1 million two seasons ago.

Neto: Inter and AC Milan want him. He cost Barca 26 million but they would let him go for 16m. Italy seems his likely destination even though Everton were interested.

Samuel Umtiti: The French defender has a big salary and Barca need to get him out. He earns 13m euros per year and has barely played much. It’s hard for another club to pay him that salary and he has two years on his contract.

Philippe Coutinho: The Brazilian is a similar case to Umtiti. He’s the most expensive player in Barca’s history. The club know it’s hard to move him on but they need him gone. They still owe Liverpool more money if he plays more games for the club. Getting rid of him would be freeing themselves of an economic millstone.

Junior Firpo: The Betis left back has not earned a place in the team. Milan want him. Barca prefer a transfer but it could end up being a loan or a trade.

Martin Braithwaite: Kun Aguero and Memphis Depay arriving have relegated him to the reserves. He needs a new destination. Not a problem on the salary front but there’s an ‘overbooking’ in attack.

Miralem Pjanic: Arrived last summer in a swap for Arthur Melo, has been an irrelevance since. Juve want him back again and Barca are trying to loan him there for two years.

Sergi Roberto: Earns 10m euros a year so losing him would help in terms of wages. The club believes his time is up and are hoping to sell him before he can leave for free in June 2022.
