The Paris meeting: Part of Barça's plan to put pressure on Neymar

The club wanted to show they were serious about a move for Neymar by visiting the French capital

There were doubts at FC Barcelona about holding a meeting in Paris but they decided to go ahead to show Neymar they were serious about a transfer. This very public gesture showed their interest was real and the plan is to bring the Brazilian back to the Camp Nou this month. The club's hope with this movement was for Neymar to then fulfil his part and admit he only wanted to join Barça.

PSG weren't receptive to Barça's proposals but, at the same time, no one expected them to be. This is why Josep Maria Bartomeu wasn't present for the visit. Javier Bordas and Eric Abidal met with PSG's director of football, Leonardo, and kept Neymar involved using Andre Cury as an intermediary.

Neymar is really satisfied with Barça's part in the talks and is now more open to the idea of announcing the move he truly wants.

These negotiations are complicated and there's still a bad feeling amongst the two clubs. PSG would prefer to sell Neymar to anyone but Barça, despite the player's wish to end up back at the Camp Nou. Neymar, however, remains reluctant to go public about his because whilst Barça is his first choice, it's believed he would choose Madrid if the only options were to stay at PSG or head to the Bernabeu.
