De Ligt is the chosen one at centre back and Jovic up front, but the club also wants another left back to challenge Jordi Alba

FC Barcelona are still expected to be very active in the summer transfer window. Frenkie De Jong and Jean Clair Todibo are two players who hope to make an impact in the first team picture but the sporting department at the Camp Nou isn't finished yet. Their targets are a new left back to offer cover to Jordi Alba, a centre back to challenge the established three at the club and a striker who could ultimately replace Luis Suarez in attack.

A LEFT BACK

The current first team squad has cover in every position except for left back. Ernesto Valverde only has one senior player who can slot into that position and it's Jordi Alba. Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto can offer an alternative but neither are comfortable on the opposite flank. Cucurella is expected to be sold on in the summer and Miranda will be loaned out in order to gain experience at the highest level.

One option is Rayo Vallecano's Alex Moreno but he's under contract and it could end up costing Barça for more than they are willing to pay for a backup player.

Another Moreno could be the solution. Alberto Moreno, currently at Liverpool, is out of contract in the summer. He's got LaLiga experience from his time at Sevilla and being only 26 means there is still room for growth and potential profit should he eventually be sold on.

The alternative to that deal is Nacho Monreal. At 33, he'd be a stop-gap solution but is desperate to finish his career in Spain. He's also capable of offering cover at centre back and would be content to play second fiddle to Alba.

De Ligt is the man at centre back

Todibo is an investment for the future but De Ligt, also 19, is much more developed than the French starlet. He's already the captain at Ajax and guided his side into the quarter finals of the Champions League by eliminating Real Madrid.

His teammate, Frenkie de Jong, is already signed up and this would allow the pair to be reunited at the Camp Nou. The chance to establish himself alongside Pique, Umtiti and Lenglet would only aid the youngster's development and help him become a world class centre half. The issue with De Ligt is he won't come cheap as plenty of Europe's elite are watching his situation closely. However he'd be worth the fight, and parting with a bit of extra cash, due to his incredible potential.

a striker for the future

The final signing is that of a new striker. Munir was set for that alternative role but decided to join Sevilla instead. That leaves Luis Suarez as the only senior sriker on Barça's books and any potential signing would be one that coudl ultimately replace the Uruguayan. The name at the top of that list is Luka Jovic who, at just 21, is making a name for himself in Germany with Eintracht.

His current side are in a wonderful position as they can sign the red-hot striker for less than €8m knowing that teams around Europe are willing to part with around €60m to land Jovic. Eintracht are hoping someone will challenge Barça for the forward and it'll bump the price up even further.

If Jovic doesn't come in, the alternative is Valencia's Rodrigo Moreno.
