La Liga and the AFE have both backed the idea originally proposed by the RFEF for a one-off match to be played in Tangier, Morocco

The option that the Spanish Super Cup final will be played in Tangier, Morocco has been boosted by the backing of the concept from both La Liga and the AFE. In the meeting which took place last Thursday, the RFEF proposed that the Super Cup final took place in a one-off match due to the busy schedules of both teams.

The RFEF will invite La Liga and the AFE - the Spanish version of the professional players association - to discuss the topic of the Super Cup final on Monday.

Head of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, wants to find an emergency solution as to where and how the Super Cup will take place due to Barcelona and Sevilla being unable to reach a compromise themselves.

Sevilla were only willing to accept the one-off match if it was to be played at their ground, the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium. This is due to the fact the first leg of the match has already been included as part of the season ticket price.

This is something which Barcelona, logically, don't agree with. As such they aren't against the idea of the match being played at a neutral ground, and also see the chance to play in Morocco as a good option.
