Pedri González and Ansu Fati were born in 2002 with little more than a month separating them -- Pedri was born on Nov. 25 and Ansu on Oct. 30. Both have shared a meteoric rise to their respective clubs' first teams, too.
Pedri played a large part of last season for Las Palmas' Juvenil B team and it was only at the end of the season that he was promoted to the Juvenil A team. And from there to the first team, like Ansu, 'skipping' the B team. But in the case of Pedri, the jump missed out two teams, given Las Palmas also have a C team in the Tercera Division as well as the B team in Segunda B.
He made his official debut for Las Palmas on Aug. 18 in the first game of the Liga SmartBank season at home to Huesca (a 0-1 loss). He had already played regularly for Pepe Mel's team in preseason. And has also started the next two league games, against Malaga and Racing, wearing the No28 on his back.
Meanwhile, Ansu only had to wait a little longer, debuting for Barça in the second game of the season, at Camp Nou. It was against Real Betis and he came on for Carles Perez. He almost scored. He did the next week, in Pamplona against Osasuna. A perfect header which helped save Barça from losing.
