The league escapes Barca away from home

Barcelona don't like leaving their Camp Nou comfort zone. Away from home, ghosts appear. Like in Vigo on Saturday. They went ahead twice but could not escape the Galicians and dropped two golden points. The team did not defend with the ball, which is their identity, they sat back and it gave Celta wings. They had five clear shots at goal and could have won it in the last minute.

Quique Setien would be right to argue that the bad feeling on the road existed before his time. Barca have been good under him at home as usual, six games, 18 points, 17 scored, two conceded.

The only points Barca have dropped at home this season were by Ernesto Valverde in the Clasico draw on December 18. 0-0.

Barca have played 16 times at home and won 15, 48 goals in favour, 12 against. 46 points. Atletico Madrid, for example, have 11 points less than Barca at home and have scored 25 goals less. 

Even the return without fans has not stopped Barca at home, with wins over Leganes (2-0) and Athletic Bilbao (1-0).

Away from home Barcelona's numbers are shocking. With 16 games played they have won exactly half the points they have taken at home, 23 instead of 46.

A barbarity. If the table was only away games, Barca would barely qualify for the Champions League. Far behind Real Madrid and with only a point moe than Villarreal and Getafe. 

Valverde managed four wins from 10, including one in the Wanda Metropolitano. Setien started badly with a 2-0 defeat at Mestalla, then beat Betis 3-2 but lost 2-0 at Madrid in the Clasico. 

A 4-0 win at Mallorca was good, a 0-0 with Sevilla at the Pizjuan was disappointing and there was more of that in Vigo. Eight points from 18.
