The incredible statistic from Barça's penalty saving king Iñaki Peña

The goalkeeper's saved all four spot-kicks he has faced in 2019

Scoring a penalty against Iñaki Peña is almost impossible for rivals. The Barça B goalkeeper has excellent reflexes, cold blood and the agility to win the battle from the spot time and time and again. He showed as much in the reserve team's latest fixture when he saved from Orihuela's Brian to stop them from getting back into the game.

It was the fourth penalty save from a stopper who dreams of emulating his heroics at Camp Nou one day. Last season he made penalty saves from Albarrán (Badalona), Dani Martínez (Ebro) and Zarzo (Ontinyent). All four penalty saves have been made in 2019.

Saving penalties forever

But it's nothing new. It's a long time coming. Signed from Villarreal after a brilliant performance at the Arona tournament, he broke the penalty record when he played for the U14s, saving six of nine spot-kicks faced.

Later, when playing for the U15s, he helped Barça win the MTV Hallen Cup. He even scored two penalties in shootouts, while making the decisive save form the spot in the final against Dinamo Zagreb.

First team debut?

Even though the first-team staff, including goalkeeping coach Jose Ramon de la Fuente, have confidence in him, he's yet to make his debut in an official game. This season he was on the bench against Athletic, Betis, Osasuna and Valencia, when Neto was injured, but he didn't get his chance. It will come, for sure.
