Eibar weren't the first side Messi scored a 'poker' against

On once occasions he even scored five, vs. Bayer Leverkusen

In his latest exhibition against Eibar (6-1), Lionel Messi scored his fourth four-goal haul as a Barcelona player. The Argentine has started the season in splendid form as the leader of Ernesto Valverde's project.

It seems there are no limits for Messi, who has 519 goals for Barça and already has nine league goals this season in just five games.

Messi's record haul in one game is the five he scored against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on March 8, 2012. But he's score four goals on five occasions...

FC Barcelona - Arsenal

On April 6, 2010, Pep Guardiola's Barça beat Arsene Wenger's Arsenal 6-1 in the quarter-final of the Champions League.

Lionel Messi did all the damage after the visitors had taken a 3-2 aggregate lead at Camp Nou through Bendtner (18') but Messi replied with four stunning goals (21',37', 42' y 88').

FC Barcelona - Valencia

Almost two years later, on Feb. 19, 2012, Messi repeated the feat in the 24th game week of La Liga as Barça beat Valencia 5-1. Again, it was as if the opposition provoked Messi into action. Piatti scored in the eighth minute... and the storm began. Messi scored in the minutes 21, 77, 75 and 84, with Xavi completing the scoring in the 89th minute.

FC Barcelona - ESpanyol

Leo Messi scored another four goals the same year, against local rival Espanyol. Barça won 4-0 with goals from Messi in the minutes 11, 63, 73 and 78 in what was Josep Guardiola's final game at Camp Nou as coach.

FC Barcelona - Osasuna

On Jan. 27, 2013, Messi did it again. Once again, in La Liga, once again at Camp Nou. This time, Osasuna were the rival as Barça won 5-1. Leo opened the scoring in the 10th minute, but the visitors equalised. Messi went on to score three more (28', 55' and 57'), though, with Pedro Rodriguez (39') completing the 'manita'.

FC Barcelona - Eibar

On Sept. 19, 2017, Messi again made history with another imperious display. Messi opened the scoring from the penalty spot and scored three more brilliant goals as Barça won 6-1 at Camp Nou against Eibar. His fifth four-goal haul for the club and his 39th match ball.
