The emotional meeting between 'brothers' Eric Garcia and Ansu Fati

They were happy to see each other with the Spain camp

Ansu Fati is recovering from his latest knee operation but decided to pay a visit to the Spanish national team. The forward had been called up by Luis Enrique before and won the love of his international team-mates.

But among all La Roja’s players, Fati got on best with Eric Garcia, the Manchester City defender. He’s a year and a half older than Ansu but they played with each other a lot in Barca’s youth ranks, with the forward moved up an age category. They were team-mates for five years and Eric has always been a big brother to Ansu, accompanying him through difficult moments like the injury he had in 2015.

“He knows he has me for whatever he needs,” Eric told SPORT about Ansu back in March.

Ansu is fighting to come back next season. He’s changed a bit physically, now seeming more muscular and stronger, as well as getting dreadlocks. He and Eric were happy to see each other.

“You are stronger, you’re square-shaped!” Luis Enrique told Ansu as he hugged him. “You’re called up, 25 on the list.”

“We’re keeping your seat at the table,” they told Ansu. “What a haircut!”
