Barcelona will throw all they have at Erling Haaland to make him their big summer signing ahead of next season. The Blaugrana have designed the operation and are in permanent contact with his people to start attacking it in June. They have the numbers clear and are waiting to seal the financing. They are convinced that they can get Borussia Dortmund to sell and that the player would enjoy continuing his career at Camp Nou.
New president Joan Laporta met Mino Raiola a few weeks ago as well as the player’s father. They confirmed their total interest in bringing him in and explained that he would become the icon of the project, along with Leo Messi.
All the planning for next season revolves around the idea of Messi staying and the Norwegian arriving.
With a few other touch-ups in quality at the back and in the centre of the pitch, the sports department believes they can compete in Europe once again.
Barca now need to seal the financing of the deal. They’ve been working n it for weeks and it seems like everything will arrive at a good place in coming days. From there they can make a formal offer.
Haaland is grateful to Dortmund for what they have done for him but has outgrown the German league now. Many teams have asked for him but he would like to come to Spain.
Dortmund say they won’t sell but next summer he can leave for 75 million euros, so to get more than that, he will have to go now.
The key is Dortmund coming to a final price that Dortmund agree with. They know it’s tough to negotiate with the Germans, who got over 100m euros for Ousmane Dembele. The pandemic has done some damage and prices are lower now but Haaland will not cost less than 125 million euros. His salary won’t be a problem if Barcelona can loan or sell out some other high earner. Objective No 1 is Haaland.
