The decision which could move Saúl closer to signing for Barcelona
The Atletico midfielder has made the interesting call to change agents
Saúl Ñíguez is one of the players that Barcelona have shown the most interest in in recent years without signing. The Atletico Madrid midfielder was a target in 2017 and the Catalans could make another move this summer.
This time, Barça would have something in their favour. Saúl has changed agents this week. The Spanish international is now represented by the agency Stellar Group.
Barça have an excellent relationship with Stellar Group, who also represent Ilaix Moriba. It was just one month ago that the Blaugrana that the Juvenil A midfielder agreed the highest contract in the history of La Masia.
That deal was closed thanks to the good relationship between all the parties involved and that could help Saúl's potential arrival at Barcelona.
In addition, they are also agents to goalkeeper Iñaki Peña, who could become Marc-Andre ter Stegen's No.2 this summer if Jasper Cillessen leaves.
Saúl has a contract with Atletico until 2026. His release clause is 150 million euros. It's a lot but it corresponds to the player's potential. He would fit in to Ernesto Valverde's side perfectly and Barça would be prepared to pay more than 100 million.
