The clause which allows Paco Alcacer to return to Barcelona

Alcácer is currently on loan with Borussia Dortmund and they have an option to make the move permament

Paco Alcacer has gone from sometimes not even making the bench at Barcelona to being one of the key men in Spain's latest squad. After scoring seven goals in four matches, averaging a goal every 24 minutes, we're beginning to see what the striker is capable of once again. Without kicking up a fuss, Alcacer made it clear that his loan move to Borussia Dortmund offered him the chance at redemption and the opportunity to become a key figure in the national team again. The door to the first team was closed at Barça and this forced him to search for playing time elsewhere, even if only a temporary basis.

The Valencia-born striker's contract with Barcelona runs until 2021 but Dortmund have the option to make his loan move permanent next summer for €25m. As such, the player's future is no longer in Barça's hands. If the German side deposits the €25m, there's nothing Barcelona can do to stop the move from happening.

After seeing what Alcacer is capable of, it seems inevitable that Dortmund will pay the agreed sum. This could be seen as an opportunity missed for Barça as the Premier League market tends to invest heavily in proven goalscorers. If Dortmund take up that option to buy Alcacer, it might mean that Barcelona have missed out on cashing in on an even bigger pay day.
