Failure to win the league will also save the club paying out Copa bonuses

In the huge contracts handed out to FC Barcelona's footballers, there are various bonuses for winning trophies throughout the course of the season.

The biggest bonuses are for the trophies that arrive at the end of the season and the players now know it's very unlikely they will pocket them this year.

In the previsions for this season, the bonus for winning La Liga Santander is between €28m and €30m, to be shared out across the whole squad.

The Copa del Rey, which Barça won in April by beating Athletic Bilbao in the final, could have led to a bonus of between €6m and €8m for the players. However, that bonus is linked to a big trophy. That means, they only get the Copa bonus if they also win the league or the Champions League.

With Atletico and Real Madrid both winning in midweek after Barça drew with Levante, winning La Liga is almost impossible for Ronald Koeman's side with just two games to go.

The 'good news' for the club, though, is that they will save around €38m in bonuses.
