The goalkeeper admits psychological issues played their part in the shock defeats

Following Marc-Andre ter Stegen's fine performance against Slavia Prague on Wednesday, an interview has appeared with the Germany goalkeeper in the magazine 11Freunde.

In the interview, he speaks about Barcelona's painful Champions League defeats at the hands of Roma and Liverpool in recent years and explains the reasons.

"Those defeats can't be put down to tactical questions," he said. "You have to look deeply at the psychological issues around the losses."

Ter Stegen continued: "In the moment, we were all angry because there was no explanation. You ask yourself: how can I respond to my parents or my wife when, despite winning the first leg 3-0, we haven't made it through?"
