Brazilian goalkeeper Neto will take his place in the meantime
Marc ter Stegen is a huge doubt for the Spanish Super Cup, which will take place in Saudi Arabia next week. Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde has basically ruled him out of the tournament. The German goalkeeper still has a knee problem and will miss Saturday's trip to Espanyol. Neto will take his place.
When asked about the chances of him being fit for the Super Cup, Valverde said on Friday: "He's had a problem for a while and we decided that, at a certain moment, he would have to be out for a while, and that's now. He's not available for Espanyol and the Super Cup will be complicated. We hope he will be back afterwards."
However, Valverde didn't want to go any further and talk about a possible operation: "Surgery? I don't know. We've not spoken about that. Our ides is that during this time the pain disappears."
