The German goalkeeper returned with a string of saves against Kyiv on Wednesday

Marc-Andre ter Stegen was named man of the match on his return to action for Barcelona on Wednesday after making several stunning saves in the 2-1 win against Dynamo Kyiv.

But the goalkeeper, making his first appearance of the season, is more concerned about the team's performance than his own: "For me, the important thing is to win this game. I was looking forward to being back on the pitch and doing what I like the most."

Analysing the game, he added: "I think they had a lot of chances, we have to improve and speak about that ... but we started well, we had good chances and we could have been further ahead. Late on we suffered, we suffered a lot and it made the game a little nervous late on."

As for his saves, he didn't want to pick a favourite, humbly saying: "That doesn't matter. The important thing is winning this game. For me, getting back on the pitch and winning is the main thing. I am really happy for the team."

Happy new deal

And on his new contract, he said: "I didn't have any doubts about renewing. We wanted to find an agreement. It was a little tougher at first but it's normal. We wanted to renew and we've managed that, the club and me."
