Tebas has no doubts that Pique will return to Barça as president
The LaLiga chief says the defender is ready for the role in the future
Gerard Pique's announcement of his retirement from football caught everyone by surprise. Even Javier Tebas,the president of LaLiga, who spoke about the Barcelona defender's decision in an interview with 'El Partidazo de Cope' on Friday.
Tebas described him as a "historic" player, was "sad" by the news and also believes that it is Pique who has decided to retire and not the club pushing him to take the step. He also sees him returning as Barça president.
"I have no doubt," Tebas said when asked if Pique would be back as president one day.
"He has three qualities to become Barcelona president. He has been at the club for 25 years. He knows the world of football as a player, and he knows the industry of football and sports as a businessman.
"He knows they are very different facets. He's had experience of decision making as a businessman, with his success and failures, and he can become a great president of Barcelona. I believe he can. I believe he has the capacity to do so."
