The former Liverpool man can't believe the Frenchman plays in Blaugrana

Ian Wright also weighed in, criticising both Mathieu and midfielder Andre Gome

Barcelona fans have focused their anger on two main figures they hold responsible for the club’s bad form, compounded by their 3-0 defeat by Juventus on Tuesday night: Jeremy Mathieu and Andre Gomes.

The Frenchman has never been a big fan favourite for Cules and the Portuguese is one of the most disappointing signings this season.

While Luis Enrique seems to have confidence in the pair, the appreciation of the fans is much more limited. After the game two former players spoke out and they shared their opinion with Barcelona supporters.

Former Liverpool man Steven Gerard said about Jeremy Mathieu: “He took Mathieu off at half-time. The first half was a nightmare for him. How can he wear Barcelona’s shirt? He’s light years away.”

Meanwhile Ian Wright, ex-Arsenal, spoke about them and said: “If two players like Andre Gomes and Jeremy Mathieu play the return leg, Juventus will be very grateful. I’m not a fan of them.’
