The former Manchester United defender believes De Ligt is exactly the signing Barça need
Jaap Stam, entrenador del PEC Zwolle coach and former Dutch international Jaap Stam has given his verdict on FC Barcelona's rumoured move for De Ligt.
"It's important that he has playing time. If we look at the teams (interested), Barcelona - after losing to Liverpool - probably want to reinforce, especially in defence. The question is whether he'll solve their problems," Stam told DAZN.
"However I think Matthijs de Ligt would fit them well. It'd be great to see him come up against better players, in a better league, not just every other week but every weekend."
The young centre back's future is far from resolved and Stam believes the most important aspect is the amount of playing time he receives. "I believe the people around him, and de Ligt himself, are intelligent enough to choose the option which means he'll play more often. In this case, money doesn't matter."
