SPORT poll: Barcelona fans divided on the appointment of Valverde

Los seguidores del Barça opinaron sobre una hipotética llegada de Valverde / | SPORT

Some think he will do well as he knows the club

Others aren't so sure he's ready to make the step

Ernesto Valverde's arrival at Barcelona to replace Luis Enrique has split the club's supporters. That's what we have been told by speaking to socios and supporters in Madrid ahead of the Copa del Rey final against Alaves.

Enric, a socio who lives in Barcelona, said: "Of all those linked with coachin Barça, he's the one which annoyed me the least. I think he will play offensive football and also back the academy, like he's shown at Athletic."

Pedro, who travelled from Almeria to Madrid by train on Saturday morning, added: "He's been able to get to a number of finals with a team without stars. Now he's coming to Barça, where he will have Messi, Neymar and Suarez. I am sure he will do great things."

DIFFERENT OPINIONS

However, Ernest, from Barcelona, said: "Valverde doesn't have the necessary experience to coach a big club like Barça. I would have preferred a bigger name, like Ancelotti or Koeman."

Carles and Antoni, who made their way to Madrid together from Calella, said: "As he's been at the club and knows the philosophy, we don't think he will do too badly. But we will only know with time. The good thing is he likes to have the ball, attack and that's positive for Barça."

Bruno, a Cule from Valladolid, said: "Valverde doesn't upset me, but the pressure of managing Barça has nothing to do with coaching Athletic. But he has a good football philosophy, but I'm not sure how he will do at a club as big as this."
