Sparks fly between Roberto Soldado and Ronald Koeman

| sport

The duo did not get along at Nuevo Los Carmenes in Barca's big win over Granada

Beyond being a calm and comfortable win, which is something very rare in this season, there were plenty of interesting moments at Los Carmenes. There was no sign of Storm Filomena which had a big impact in Spain. It was cold in Granada, sure, but sunny in the day and good conditions for football. Many Grenadians used the sunlight to head out into the squares of the beautiful Andalusian city. Barca arrived at 5.30pm, an hour before kick-off, with their hotel just four minutes away from the stadium.

Referee De Burgos Bengoetxea was busy. The hosts protested against Antoine Griezmann’s opener because he was offside but the ball found him via Roberto Soldado. Busquets’s pass was in the opposite direction.

Soldado was at odds with the officials through the 90 minutes, consistently whinging. He is a born competitor. Even Ronald Koeman got fed up of them and he kicked off. He wanted the referee to stop Soldado complaining with a card and clashed with the forward. They also came face to face in the tunnel at half-time. Later Soldado was substituted on a day to forget for him.
