The immediate future of Paco Alcacer could see the striker join Premier League side Southampton this summer. The English club are searching for a striker and have set their sights on the Barcelona man, who has struggled to establish himself under Ernesto Valverde.
According to the Daily Mirror, Mark Hughes is looking for a forward who has a nose for a goal after his side suffered last season due to a distinct lack of firepower. Southampton had to wait until the very end to assure themselves of safety.
The cited source says that the probable arrival of Antoine Griezmann at Barcelona closes the door even further on Alcacer's time at the club. However, despite there being plenty of interest in Alcacer, the player himself is yet to make a decision on his future.
It appears Mark Hughes will try to convince Alcacer to join the Saints by promising to make him the reference in their attack. This is where he played for Valencia and also where he produced his best football.
