Sevilla are continuing to ask for a two-legged match against Barcelona to be played on the 5th and 12th August

Last night Sevilla rejected the RFEF's proposal for the Spanish Super Cup final to be played in a one-off match in Tangier, Morocco. According to RAC1, Barcelona weren't against the idea of the match being played outside of Spain.

In declarations to the media, Sevilla's president Jose Castro said this: "We rejected the idea of it being a one-off match and maintain that our plan is to play two matches, on the 5th and 12th August, because that's the agreement we made with our fans and season ticket holders."

Now the CSD will decide the format of the Super Cup between Sevilla and Barcelona.

This came after a meeting took place between the Head of the Spanish FA, Luis Rubiales, Guillermo Amor and Oscar Grau from Barcelona, plus Jose Castro and Jose Maria Cruz from Sevilla.

Rubiales presented a proposal to both clubs for the match to be a one-off game. "The proposal is for it to take place at a neutral ground on the 12th. On the 9th Sevilla, God willing, will have a European match and in that case they'd need to have a minimum of 48 hours rest. Barcelona understood that so the 12th is ideal and will be the chosen date if both teams agree."

Once the meeting was over the two sides needed to analyse all of the options and announce their decision before midnight last night. It was Sevilla who rejected the idea and now the 'Consejo Superior de Deportes' will try to resolve the situation.
