Barcelona won't throw in the towel in their pursuit of Jules Kounde, the Sevilla defender that Xavi Hernandez wants to strengthen his defence.

Kounde is one of the players Xavi has asked the club to sign and they are doing all they can to bring him in this summer.

Even though Kounde is not represented by Jorge Mendes, on Monday the agent arrived in Barcelona for a meeting with president Joan Laporta about the player.

Sevilla have put their faith in the Portuguese representative to do a deal, although it will be tough to talk them down from their 65 million euro asking price.

Along with Robert Lewandowski, Kounde's one of Barça's top targets. The France international is already consolidated in the Spanish League and it also wanted by English clubs.

Barça's hopes of signing Kounde depend on activating the second palanca to raise more money. They have sold 10% of their TB rights to Sixth Street for €207.5 million and hope to sell another 15% for more than €300m to fund incomings.
