Sevilla defender Lenglet will say 'yes' to Barcelona on Monday

The centre-back will join Barça for over 30 million euros this week

Clement Lenglet will be a Barcelona player on Monday, as previously revealed by SPORT. The deal has been held up by a couple of minor delays, otherwise, the club would have made the announcement earlier.

France defender Lenglet, 23, was made a counter-offer to stay at Sevilla at the last moment. But he is ready to take the big step of joining a club like Barça and didn't want the train to pass.

Barça couldn't execute his release clause until July 1 because that enables the deal to be included in the balance sheets for 2018-19.

FIRST SIGNING

Lenglet becomes Barça's first signing of the summer. However, it's not clear if the club will pay his release clause in the end, or if they will pay a little more to do a deal with Sevilla, which would allow them to pay in installments.

That could also avoid ruining what is a good relationship with the Andalusian club.

Lenglet's deal at the Sanchez Pizjuan runs until 2021 and his release clause is 30 million euros, but Barça could pay 35 million for him.

While Lenglet sees a future at Barça, he will initially be the third choice behind Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti. Thomas Vermaelen will be fourth choice and Yerry Mina will likely be loaned out.

And if Lenglet's the first signing, Arthur Melo will be the second. Barça have a deal in place to sign him and will execute it this month, bringing him in now instead of January.

Barça paid Gremio four million in March to get the deal in place and will pay 30 million this week to do the deal now, the only way that the Brazilian club will allow him to leave this summer.
