The club are working on a number of deals for Xavi to build a new side

Xavi exploded with joy when Jordi Alba volleyed Barcelona into the Champions League. The images may look exaggerated but the club’s reality justified the euphoria. They weren’t just three points but also a vital objective completed for next season. What was up to Xavi, qualifying, is done, and a lot of deals the club want to make depended on it. Lewandowski would be impossible in the Europa League.

Now the club are working hard, Xavi with Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff. The plan is to make seven signings.

Andreas Christensen is done, but Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso could follow from Stamford Bridge.

“Busquets is not eternal,” said Xavi, opening the door to a new CDM, Zubimendi, Tchouameni and Neves are the candidates. Kessie is arriving from AC Milan for the interior role.

Up front will be the biggest investment. Lewandowski is the main target and Raphinha could join from Leeds too. If they go down, 25m euros is the price.
