Barcelona coach Quique Setien, speaking ahead of his side's game against Eibar at Camp Nou on Saturday, says he has confidence that new signing Martin Braithwaite can help the team between now and the end of the season.

Braithwaite joined the club on Thursday from Leganes in a deal worth his 18 million euros release clause after Barça had been given permission to sign outside of the transfer window following a long-term injury to Ousmane Dembele.

Speaking in a press conference on Friday, briefly after announcing that Braithwaite was in the squad for the Eibar game, Setien was asked if the Dane could start games for the club.

"Of course we will see him start a game at some point," the coach responded. "We have to decide when. It's maybe a little premature right now.

"He comes in good form, no doubts about that, but there are many concepts that we have to explain and he has to understand. I am sure he will help a lot. He has arrived really motivated and excited."

Asked for his vision of the player, Setien said that he valued his versatility across the attack as well as the fact he has a football brain.

"Martin is a player that we had been following for a while," he added. "He is a player with qualities that are going to help us a lot, very specific qualities. He can play different positions and fits well.

"I have a lot of faith that he can help a lot. He is not just a good footballer, but he has a good head, too, and he's going to add a lot of things."
