The coach says his players are focused on winning football matches

Quique Setien has made it clear that events off the pitch revolving around 'Barçagate' will have no affect on the first team players.

The Barcelona coach, as expected, said no external issues will cause his players to lose focus after it was alleged the club had paid a third party company to discredit players, legends and club members.

"I understand that you (the media) can say many things affect us but that is not the case in reality," he said. "I say that sincerely. We are very focused on what we have to focus on in football terms.

"I try to make sure these things don't influence the team, I can assure you of that. We are focused on the objective of winning games, playing well and making sure the fans enjoy themselves. Nothing else. Everything else, honestly, doesn't affect us much."

After the allegations, president Josep Maria Bartomeu met with the club's captains to offer an explanation and deny any involvement in the social media posts in question.

"Of course we always accept what the president says," Setien added. "He said the same things to us that he had said in other places. I won't go over it anymore; neither will the captains. The issue is now parked.

"It is not something that helps with what we have to focus on, which is football, so we will leave it to the side. I don't worry too much about these things. The explanation has been given and that's that."
