The midfielder spoke to SPORT ahead of Tuesday's game in Germany

Sergio Gomez started at Trajana before playing for Badalona, Espanyol and Barcelona. He left Barça in 2010 for Borussia Dortmund, though, but is currently on loan at Huesca. He spoke to SPORT ahead of this week's Champions League game between Barça and Dortmund in Germany.

You started in Trajana, what's left of that part of you?

I was a boy, I played with the older age groups and they called me "the little one." I'm still known as that now: at Dortmund and Huesca!

Why did you leave Barça?

At 17, to be able to start training with (Dortmund's) first team was already great, but also the sporting project they presented to me was really good, so I made my decision.

And?

I think I chose well and I hope everything goes well at Huesca this year to return even stronger.

To switch it around, what would it have taken to stay at Barça?

It's a decision me and my family took. Nothing was missing. The club have always treated me well and I don't have any complaints, but Dortmund came in for me, offered a great project and I made the decision.

Is the door now shut on Barça?

You don't know what will happen in the future, but this year I will play for Huesca and then I will return to Dortmund, where they're treating me really well.

A lot of youngsters leave Barça for England. Why Germany?

It's a country where the game's growing and they take chances on young players. Two teammates I had at Barça are now in Germany as well: Miranda at Schalke and Mateu in Dortmund, too.

Dortmund against Barça in the Champions League this week?

I am really looking forward to this game. It's been a long time since Barça have played there and lots of people haven't seen them there. The stadium will be bouncing, the fans will be completely behind the team. They are in every game. They're very loyal and it's a tough place for Barça to go.

Who are favourites?

I would say it's 50-50. Barça are one of the best in the world and Dortmund are up for it. And the home fans add a lot.

Could they win the Champions League?

Borussia have a good team and I think they can fight for it. They have built a team to win it. Barça and Madrid are candidates, in Italy there's Juventus, then Liverpool and Man City from the Premier League...
