Sergio Busquets takes a jab at Eric Abidal

The Barcelona midfielder, suspended for the second leg, made a jibe

Sergio Busquets spoke after Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Napoli and hit out at the club’s sporting director Eric Abidal.

The Barcelona midfielder, who was booked, will be suspended for the second leg. So too will Arturo Vidal after his red card, potentially Gerard Pique too after an ankle twist and Sergi Roberto is also injured.

“We had Arturo’s red card, I hope Pique’s thing is nothing. We’ll take (the second leg) on with what we are, we’re a small squad, unfortunately the planning was like this,” said Busquets.

Abidal and Co decided to sell Carles Perez, Jean-Clair Todibo and others in the winter window, needing to make the emergency signing of Martin Braithwaite after Ousmane Dembele’s injury.

Busquets added: “We are a small squad, we don’t have players of this profile to attack, we have to reinvent ourselves.”

Busquets thought the game “was very difficult, we were fresh, they had a line of four and another of six, it was hard to find space inside. We tried, it couldn’t be, and we had some bad luck when they scored. They didn’t deserve it but that’s football. We knew they were going to lose the rhythm, space would open and there we appeared. We had some chances to turn it around.”
