The day has arrived. Sergio Busquets is ready to leave Barcelona when his contract expires on June 30, 2023 after 15 years at the centre of the club's midfield.
He made the decision a while ago, aware that age catches up with everyone, and feels that at 34 he still has time for a final adventure elsewhere before retirement.
When Pep Guardiola handed him his debut in 2008 no one could have predicted what would come next as Busquets has grown into a leader for Spain and Barcelona, winning everything there is to win in the game.
He remains a regular in the Barcelona side under Xavi but, despite the club's desire to get another year out of hin, he has taken the decision to leave next summer.

Busquets is likely to accept an offer to join Inter Miami in Major League Soccer. It has long been his intention to finish his career in the United States and it now looks increasingly likely to happen sooner than later.
