The defensive midfielder is still important for Barca and Spain

Sergio Busquets says he has not thought about where his future lies yet. The Spanish midfielder’s deal at Barca expires in the summer and he is linked with MLS.

Asked if he had decided where he will play next season, Sergio Busquets was very clear. "Not yet. I already said it in the summer and at the press conference against Switzerland in Zaragoza. Just like the World Cup, I haven't decided. It's my last year, I know a lot has been said, but I've always spoken in the same way. I have nothing signed from one side or the other. We'll see how it goes, but around February or so I would like to be clear and decide", he explained in an interview with 'El Larguero’.

In the same way, he was also questioned about whether the Qatar 2022 World Cup will be the last World Cup that he will play as a footballer. "I haven't decided on it, but it looks more like yes. I'm old enough and, despite having the coach's trust and feeling good and important, I'm closer to it being my last. I want to enjoy this World Cup, but I'm not going to decide anything now or when the tournament ends.”

Of course, he has hinted that there would be more chances of continuing for Spain if Luis Enrique continues as coach: “Well, yes, I would think about it", he commented. Along the same lines, he added that "this national team has been made by Luis Enrique and he has molded it according to his philosophy and it has turned out really well." And he has pointed out: "If he doesn't continue, I suppose another coach will put his stamp on it again."
