Sergi Samper injured again on return to action for Barcelona
The midfielder was taken off in the first half against Cultural Leonesa
Sergi Samper was taken off with a muscle injury in the first half of Barcelona's Copa del Rey game against Cultural Leonesa on Wednesday.
The midfielder, making his first appearance of the season, was withdrawn after half an hour. He later looked devastated sat on the bench.
Samper seems cursed. Last January he had to have surgery for a ligament problem and was out for around four months.
He was on loan at the time and returned to Barça to recover. In the summer he had more problems, forcing him to miss the club's tour of the United States.
However, Barcelona gave him the chance to stay with the first team, despite his doubts about continuing as a footballer, and gave him a shirt number for the season.
Until now, he'd not entered in a single squad. The game against Leonesa was the first time in a Barça squad since the Spanish Super Cup in 2016-17.
That season he was loaned to Granada but the sacking of Paco Jemez and more injury problems ruined his season in Andalucia.
